Daphne Deckers quite pissed off: ‘DO NOT call me fit granny!’

Daphne Deckers (54) is completely fed up. She looks fantastic for someone her age and she doesn’t want people jokingly calling her ‘fit granny’.

Daphne Deckers is in great shape and she likes to show it. We see her constantly parading across the screen in a bikini in the summer. It’s not quite Gaby Blaaser yet. That’s all very nice, but anyone who showcases their entire life online will of course receive reactions. And in Daphne’s case, they are complimentary, but sometimes also vicious.

Fitgranny

And Daphne isn’t really into the latter. She also points out other older, fit women who are talked about in a derisive way. “Fitgranny. That’s what Isa Hoes and Heleen van Royen were called when they showed the muscular results of the fitness program they had followed on their Instagram last summer.”

Heleen is a grandmother, but Isa is not, Daphne emphasizes to her Woman column. “If you are over 50 and in the gym, why are you a fit granny?”

Fitgirl

From a numerical perspective, Daphne is of course more of a fit granny than a fit girl. “I understand that you are no longer a fit girl, but for a woman there is nothing between girl and granny? Are those the two extremes between which we have to move?”

If it were up to Daphne, the name ‘fitgirl’ could remain, but not ‘fitgranny’. “Why is there negativity at all? What exactly is so threatening about 50+ women who like to go to the gym?”

Two bikini photos

By the way, Daphne emphasizes that she only posted two bikini photos on Insta in the summer. “And then there is always someone who responds: why do you have to wear a bikini again?”

Finally she answers: “Because a turtleneck is so warm at the pool, Einstein!”
