Danny (35) is struggling with rare form of rheumatism, but is at the start of Antwerp 10 Miles on Sunday: “It’s now or never, I’m going to enjoy”

For eighteen years he has been living with spondyloarthritis, a rare form of rheumatism that causes a lot of stiffness and muscle pain, but this year Danny van Gucht (35) takes on the challenge of his life. On Sunday he and his coach will be at the start of the Baloise 10 Miles. A true dream turns out, although those first training sessions did not run from a slate roof: “One kilometer seems obvious, but it was really a trail of trial and error,” said Danny.
