Danjuma opened the scoring from a penalty kick in the 10th minute. A few minutes later he passed Cillessen again. The 25-year-old attacker, who broke through at NEC, increased his La Liga tally this season to ten goals.
Danjuma was substituted 20 minutes before time. Villarreal reached the semi-finals of the Champions League last week by knocking out Bayern Munich and now faces Liverpool. In Spain, the team of trainer Unai Emery is in seventh place. Valencia, which occupies tenth place, will play the Spanish Cup final against Real Betis in Seville on Saturday.
Inter after victory over Milan to cup final
Lautaro Martínez has led Internazionale to the final of the Italian Cup tournament. The Argentine attacker scored the first two goals in the return against fellow townspeople AC Milan: 3-0. The first game in the semi-finals, early last month, had ended in 0-0.
Martínez already scored the 1-0 in the 3rd minute. Shortly before half time, the number 10 made his second with a marker over the Milan keeper. Substitute Robin Gosens, former player of FC Dordrecht, Vitesse and Heracles Almelo, scored the third goal in the final phase. Fifteen minutes before that, Ismaël Bennacer’s connection goal had been rejected, because TV images from the VAR showed that a teammate was annoyingly offside.

At Inter, Stefan de Vrij participated the entire match. Denzel Dumfries stayed on the bench. In Serie A, Inter is 2 points behind leaders Milan, but also played one game less. In the cup final, the blue-black formation will meet Juventus or Fiorentina. Juventus, the club of Matthijs de Ligt, will defend a 1-0 lead in the return on Wednesday in front of its own audience.
Fleks with Freiburg to German Cup final
Goalkeeper Mark Fleks has reached the final of the German cup tournament with SC Freiburg. The team of the Orange International won 3-1 at Hamburger SV in the semifinals, via goals in the first half from Nils Petersen, Nicolas Höfler and Vincenzo Grifo (penalty kick). At second division HSV, which did something back in the final phase, the Dutch youth international Ludovit Reis (ex-FC Groningen) was substituted after almost 70 minutes.
The final of the DFB-Pokal tournament is on Saturday 21 May in the Olympiastadion in Berlin. Freiburg will then meet the winner of the game between RB Leipzig and 1. FC Union Berlin. Those clubs will compete against each other on Wednesday evening.
SC Freiburg has never won a major trophy. The club became champions of the second Bundesliga four times, most recently in 2016. Goalkeeper Flek’s team is now in fifth place in the highest division and even has a view of a place in the Champions League. Freiburg must then finish in the top 4.
National coach Louis van Gaal is charmed by 28-year-old Fleks, who was under the bar in the last two international matches of the Dutch national team.
