Dance DM: Grün-Gold-Club Bremen and Braunschweiger TSC are the favorites

As of: November 9th, 2023 11:22 a.m

The German championships for standard and Latin formations will be about the titles on Saturday. The favorites are hosts Braunschweiger TSC and the Green-Gold-Club Bremen. NDR.de will show the intermediate round from 7:25 p.m. and the final from 11:15 p.m. in the stream.

Eight pairs as a unit that takes the spectators’ breath away: That is the goal of each of the 16 Latin and standard formations. The path to get there is hard and paved with countless hours of training. The Grün-Gold-Club Bremen is the measure of all things in Latin to conjure up the highest levels of dance difficulty fluently and synchronously on the dance floor. Twelve World Cup titles and 17 national championships speak for themselves.

The formations at the DM (in the order of the starting numbers):

Latin:
TSG Bietigheim A (Music: Heart and Soul)
VfL Bochum 1848 TSA A (Music: I’m alive)
Grün-Gold-Club Bremen (Music: Freedom and Peace)
TSG Bremerhaven A (Music: Top Gun)
Blau-Weiss Buchholz A (Music: Made to Love)
1. Latin Team Kiel A (Music: Dreams)
TSC Residenz Ludwigsburg A (Music: Change)
TSC Rot-Gold Casino Nuremberg A (Music: James Bond)
Default:
1. TSC Tanzkreis Schwarz-Gold Altenburg A (Music: Time)
Braunschweiger TSC A (Music: Dancing on the Ceiling)
TSZ Blau-Gold-Casino Darmstadt A (Music: Light & Darkness)
Boston Club Düsseldorf A (Music: Aladdin)
Dance sports team d. ASC Göttingen 1846 A (Music: A Sky full of Stars)
1. TC Ludwigsburg A (Music: Barcelona 2.0)
TSC Blau-Gold Nienburg A (Music: Mi Porti Con Te)
TSC Rot-Gold Casino Nuremberg A (Music: Power – Emotion – Energy – Passion)

The path to DM gold in Braunschweig will only be via green gold. With the choreography “Freedom and Peace” trainer Roberto Albanese wants to once again raise the bar for Latin formation dance.

Green-Gold Club Bremen with the next title?

“The pressure is the same every year,” said Green-Gold dancer Jakob Kohmüller on Radio Bremen. “But what has always distinguished us over the years is that the team is best in these pressure situations.”

Kohmüller and Co. are used to all eyes being on them when it comes to titles. In Braunschweig, however, it will also be particularly exciting to see who will presumably secure silver behind the top favorite in the Latin competition.

Lawsuit from Blau-Weiss Buchholz

A fight has broken out for second place at the Latin World Championships in Hong Kong on December 18th. According to the qualification regulations, the winner of the last Bundesliga season and the DM are qualified – that is the green-gold club. Therefore, the German runner-up is also likely to be there in Hong Kong this year.

The Latin formations will now fight for this place behind defending champions and favorites Green-Gold on Saturday – but perhaps in vain. Because this time, the German Dance Sports Association has exceptionally made the nomination for the World Cup in December on September 30th, based on the results of the DM 2022. Accordingly, the Green Gold Club and TSG Bremerhaven are there. In order to create planning security and adhere to the reporting deadline, it was said.

Blau-Weiss Buchholz does not agree with this procedure and has doubts about its correctness. The Lower Saxons have filed a lawsuit before the sports court of the German Dance Sports Association and are insisting that the qualification regulations are adhered to and that the second starter is only nominated after the DM. The exit is open. However, it is possible that the sports court will make its decision before the championships on Saturday – and depending on whether TSG Bremerhaven loses its World Cup starting place, it should not reach second place.

Home win for Braunschweiger TSC?

Little “Freedom and Peace” before the German title fights. When it comes to standard dancers, only the title counts for hosts and last year’s winners Braunschweiger TSC as well as for Green-Gold. With the choreography “Dancing on the Ceiling”, a homage to Lionel Richie, the BTSC has never lost and also won the World Championship in front of its own crowd. Now successful coach Rüdiger Knaack wants to triumph again at home and keep ASC Göttingen in check like last year.
