Small setback after the strong performance in the DFB Cup against Mönchengladbach: Second division table leaders Darmstadt 98 had to settle for a draw against Holstein Kiel on Friday evening (21.10.22). The guests had started out strong.
Kiel took the lead through Steven Skrzybski (35′) in the first half of the game, which was heavily controlled by the North Germans. Darmstadt was able to equalize deep in the second half of the game after a significant increase in performance by Matthias Bader (72nd). Bader duped goalkeeper Thomas Dähne with a leg shot.
Darmstadt remains the top of the table for sure
The Lilies will certainly remain leaders after the 13th match day: Paderborn and Hamburger SV can draw the same level on points, but each have a goal difference that is at least ten goals worse. Kiel, meanwhile fourth in the table after scoring the opening goal, missed the connection to the top of the tableau with the draw.
Darmstadt near St. Pauli, Kiel welcomes Düsseldorf
SV Darmstadt 98 has to play FC St. Pauli at the Millerntor on matchday 13 of the second Bundesliga (Saturday, October 29th, 2022 at 8:30 p.m.). Seven and a half hours before, things get serious for Kiel at home against Düsseldorf.
