The Dakar Rally is taking place in Saudi Arabia. KAMAZ-master team racer Andrey Karginov won the second stage of the raid, the first four places were taken by the Russian “Blue Armada”. Our racers did not leave a single chance to the rivals in the truck classification. Even the last of the KAMAZ-master pilots was 2.5 minutes ahead of the nearest competitor.
Dakar is full of surprises. The Desert Flood is one of them. The camp, where the athletes were supposed to arrive for the night, was flooded. But giving up even to the elements is not in the spirit of a rally-raid. The race changes its route, but does not stand still.
The marathon stage has been canceled. There is no need to carry additional spare parts – the riders, as they say, go “for all the money.” Truck pilots, rivals on the special stage, outside of it, in a friendly manner, with boyish excitement, discuss the tricky zigzags of the race, writing with their fingers directly on the sand and with their hands in the air.
“Where Makar didn’t drive calves”: it is difficult to describe the starting point of the second stage more precisely. But even here there are KAMAZ fans. And more recently, the pulse of the world economy was beating here.
There is a hot race in the cold desert. 338 kilometers in gravel, sand and dunes. Racing “KAMAZ” – out of competition… The winner of the Dakar 2020 is Andrey Karginov. Exhausting arrival: trucks arrive at the camp after dark, there is no strength even to rejoice at the success.
Total domination of the Russian team: four KAMAZ vehicles are the best at the stage and in the general classification.
