The driver from Terni will tackle the dunes of the Saudi desert with a super-truck from Italtrans Racing Team and Prometeon Tire Group. Here are all the technical data
Since the first edition of the then Paris-Dakar, in 1979the most extreme trucks in the world regularly take to the road at each edition of the iconic rally raid. A challenge that over the years has seen the alternating triumphs of numerous manufacturers, from Kamaz to Manfrom Mercedes to Perliniup to the present day, with an “encore” of victories of theIveco Powerstar in the 2023 and 2024 editions. Truck that this year will also be driven by Danilo Petruccia rider from Terni who had already won a stage of the Dakar in 2022, riding a Ktm motorcycle. At his side, the pilot Claudio Bellinawith sixteen editions to its credit, and the navigator Marco Arnoletticompleting the crew of Italtrans Racing Team and Prometeon Tire Group.

The Iveco Powerstar is powered by the Cursor 6-cylinder in-line diesel engine 13 liters of displacementcapable of delivering a maximum power of 1,100 horsepower and to express a pair of 5,000 Nm. Derived from the engine used by the standard Iveco T-Way and S-Way, it stands out for the adoption of an injection system of nautical derivationturbine, intercooler and radiator increasedpistons and cams of agricultural origin (suitable for greater stress) and racing oil sump to avoid interruptions in the flow of lubricant in conditions of heavy use. Consumption is extreme: during the race it is covered 500 meters with one liter of fuel.

The outfitting of the Iveco Powerstar of Italtrans Racing Team and Prometeon Tire Group is handled by MM Technologiesa Czech company specializing in the development of trucks from rally raid chaired by Martin Macikwinner in the truck category in 2024. The overall weight is around 9 tonswhile the maximum speed has been reduced by the new regulation: the limiter is set at 140 km/heven though these trucks could technically exceed 200 per hour. The tires are new Prometeon S02 Rally 14.00 R20specially developed for applications in rally raidwith reinforced structure, sides and heel to withstand the extreme stresses to which they will inevitably be subjected 7,706 kilometers of the 2025 edition, starting on January 3rd.
