PUnfortunately, despite being talked about more and more, there is still little knowledge of what people can really do that is good and beautiful for themselves and for their well-being. Often, regarding movement, for example, it is thought that, if you are too old or if you suffer from some ailment, or even if you only have little time, some disciplines are unworkable. It’s not like that. It is enough to rely on trained and passionate professionals to make very interesting discoveries: such as, for example, that there is yoga that is absolutely accessible even to the over 50s and 60s. Or that, to feel good, you don’t need to have whole days available, but 15 minutes a day is enough, as long as you turn that habit into a daily routine.

Yoga for sleeping: positions that help you rest better

Daily routine, a few minutes a day to feel good

“There daily routine – explains Rebecca Boasso, Yoga and Pilates teacher for more than 20 years, but also cofounder of Rebliss, a new online longevity hub that puts people at the center by promoting the activation of good and healthy habits for a long-lived lifestyle – consists of short-term pilates, yoga and functional training practices10′-20′ minutes, which help you regain concentration, release physical and emotional tension and above all dedicate time and space to yourself. We, on the platform, for example, have opted for short practices that are accessible to all, precisely because we are convinced that it is perseverance that brings results. In fact, activating good and healthy habits even with just a quarter of an hour a day leads to long-lasting results.”

For those with little time, online is the solution

Considering busy schedules and hectic schedules, how can you find time to dedicate yourself to a “daily routine”?
«Let’s say that online platforms offer considerable help and we have already seen it since Covid. The users of our community, for example, follow the courses both live and deferred according to their needs. Online is perfect for fitting in with your day’s schedule. There are those who prefer the morning to start the day with the right amount of energy and those who log on during their lunch break to enjoy a regenerating moment before diving back into work, or those who prefer to carve out time for themselves in the late afternoon or the evening before to sleep. Rebliss, for example, offers different activities precisely to respond to different types of needs and also creates one to one itineraries to allow everyone to find the most suitable itinerary based on their age, state of health and time available”.

The daily routine is a 10/15 minute practice. Is this enough time to obtain significant benefits?
«Yes, what actually matters is consistency, with a quarter of an hour every day we create a precious habit for our body and our nervous system, precious endorphins are unleashed for our good mood and our physical and emotional well-being. emotional”.

A few minutes every day and well-being is guaranteed

The pillars of well-being

You are the creators of an online platform called Rebliss. This method focuses on breathing, movement and exploration. Why are these three elements so important and how do they complement each other?
«BREATH is the first act we perform when we come into the world, it takes us back to our origins, to our essence and supports us and always accompanies us, allowing us to improve the quality of our thoughts. Through conscious breathing we can calm mental chatter and recover precious vital energy. Conscious MOVEMENT then offers us a more stable and harmonious contact with our body, allows us to know ourselves better and keep our health in balance. Finally, the desire to EXPLORE brings us closer to our inner worlds and to all the still unknown worlds that surround us. These three pillars complement each other because they are inspired by the wisdom of nature and the cycle of life: breath represents energy, vitality, movement, all the actions and changes that allow physical and internal growth, exploration supports the desire to evolve that is inherent in all human beings.”

Longevity isn’t just about living longer

What does “longevity” mean to you who have a very long experience in this world and how do you go beyond the simple concept of extending your life?
«For us, longevity means promoting the formation of the culture of a Healthy lifestyle at all ages by transforming self-care into a routine of simple and pleasant daily practices because the age you want to be tomorrow starts with the choices you make today ».

Daily routine at any age

We talked about Daily Routine before as a wellness habit and this can be good for any age. However, when talking about longevity, it is inevitable to think of people of a certain age. Because they often believe that yoga is not suitable for them. Is that so?
«There are practices suitable for people aged 60 and over: in the common imagination, those who practice yoga carry out plastic poses, stand upside down and jump from one position to another. But yoga is much more: it is calming the breath and therefore the mind, it is listening, it is also slow and conscious movement. There are many different styles of yoga and in our team, for example, we have selected teachers who are experts in different approaches to yoga precisely to adapt this practice to everyone. The great Master Desikachar taught us that “Anyone can breathe. So anyone can do yoga. The same thing, obviously, applies to pilates, it is a very complete discipline and with the necessary precautions it can easily be practiced by those over 60″.

Yoga is also good for those over 50 and 60

What are the specific yoga and pilates techniques that are most effective for those over 60?
«Especially for this age group it is very nice to meet up, be together and move with sweetness and harmony. The SILVER practice starts from the movement of the body to merge the principles of pilates and yoga, combining the benefits of conscious breathing. It adapts to the needs of each individual, helps keep the body active, improve physical and mental balance, strengthen the body and prevent injuries. Furthermore, SILVER practices are also optimal for those with specific health conditions such as reduced mobility, arthritis, osteoporosis. Using a chair as a support for practice helps keep the body active in a safe way. These are situations that we see every day during our lessons.”

What practical advice would you give to an elderly person who wants to approach yoga for the first time? How to choose the right course and how to set up a safe and effective practice?
«The ideal is to have an information meeting first. We have chosen to create a group of longevity specialists who can be contacted by filling out a simple form, in this way nothing will be left to chance and the most suitable path will be recommended based on the specific needs and personal history of each individual.”

In addition to the physical and mental benefits, can yoga and pilates help improve the quality of life of the elderly also from a social point of view?
«Absolutely yes. Our Silver students give us a lot of positive feedback both on the improvement of their mood and on their renewed self-confidence, yoga and pilates lessons are also an excellent opportunity to meet and get to know new friends and share time in harmony”.

A few minutes a day to stay healthy for a long time

From nutrition to mindfulness

Well-being is often not considered something that concerns different aspects of life: movement, of course, but eating well is also important, breathing well and also being able to reconnect with oneself.
«Yes, it’s true. We believe that an issue as important as health must be addressed at 360 degrees. It is right to offer its users something complete, a place where they can find all the experts necessary for their physical and mental well-being, without wandering here and there. From our experience, we see that in addition to the disciplines, our community really likes the possibility of also having a nutritionist, an osteopath and a mindfulness teacher available all in the same place, so as to know that the method and philosophy it will be only one. So much so that in the next few months we will also include the psychologist, the gynecologist, the expert in intuitive self-defense and also in financial advice. It must be understood that well-being and longevity are an ecosystem that reaches its maximum expression when every aspect of life is in balance.”

Small healthy habits every day

Last thing, your most important professional advice for those who want to start taking constant care of themselves and transform well-being into a healthy daily habit?
«Introduce small healthy habits every day with consistency and awareness. In this Christmas period, for example, we are having great satisfaction with the Advent Challenge which will continue until December 24th. In practice, every morning live from 7.00 until 7.15 you can open a window and discover our proposed practices one after the other, but above all those who cannot participate live can carry out the practices deferred. Because let’s always remember, longevity is a journey that is never too early, or late, to start.”
