Swedish handball player Anton Månsson36, has contracted lymph node cancer.

– It feels unreal. You start to think, have I earned this? This seems completely unreasonable. I’ve tried to live healthily, exercised all my life and I’m still a young and healthy man. This doesn’t feel right, says Månsson for Aftonbladet.

The man has two children Nadia– with his wife. The couple decided to tell their offspring about their father’s illness so that the children would not hear it from elsewhere.

– The younger one asked directly: “Dad, are you going to die?” Of course, that’s hard to listen to. My older son, who is turning nine, was more careful and listened. He understands that the situation is serious, says Månsson.

The cancer has made the man tired, but he doesn’t look sick otherwise.

– But that will change during treatment, Månsson knows.

The man is expecting a heavy autumn and spring. He is also prepared for the worst.

– But at the same time, I have no idea what lies ahead. The doctors are positive, which is really comforting. A large part will get better, but the battle must be won first, says Månsson.

The 196-centimeter and 100-kilogram powerhouse represents Ystads IF at the club team level. In addition, Månsson is also a familiar sight from the Swedish national team.
