Cyclist died a month and a half after accident in Lichtervelde
The accident occurred on March 8 around 8.15 am. A 23-year-old very pregnant woman from Lichtervelde came from Hazelstraat with her car and wanted to turn onto Roeselarebaan. During that maneuver, the driver had not noticed a cyclist, which resulted in a collision. The 60-year-old man from Torhout was taken to hospital in critical condition. He has since died as a result of the accident.
The Bruges public prosecutor’s office decided that Tuesday morning not to send a traffic expert on site. After all, based on the statements of a witness, the circumstances were clear. Perhaps the driver was blinded by the low sun.
