In an accident on the Geldropsedijk near Nuenen, a cyclist and a cyclist were seriously injured on Wednesday evening. Several ambulances were present at the scene of the accident and a trauma helicopter was also called. This was hindered and therefore had to break down the first landing.
The accident happened on the viaduct over the A270. A group of fifteen cyclists cycled over the viaduct and one of the men collided there with a cyclist. Both had a helmet.
Both cyclists are seriously injured. The cyclist in particular has lost a lot of blood. Both are taken to the trauma center in Tilburg. There, victims are treated with very serious injury.
Trauma helicopter hindered
During the landing of the trauma helicopter, it was shown with a laser from a home in the neighborhood, the police writes on social media. As a result, the helicopter had to break down the first attempt to land.
The police are investigating how exactly the accident could happen. There is a cycle path on the viaduct on two sides of the road. Those cycle paths do have white stripes in the middle, so cyclists can meet each other from both sides.
