Cyclist Alec Segaert is Promise of the Year

Twenty-year-old Segaert extended his European time trial title among the promises this season and, just like last year, won silver at the world championship in that discipline. He also won the time trial in the Giro Next Gen and the young Lotto Dstny rider also showed himself among the pros. At the Belgian championship he came second in both the time trial (behind Wout van Aert) and the road race (behind Remco Evenepoel).

On the honors list, Segaert is the successor to Cian Uijtdebroeks, another cycling talent. The civil engineering student was not present at the gala on Sunday because he is on an internship with his team Lotto Dstny.
