The accident happened around 9:20 am on Kustlaan, just on the border between Zeebrugge and Heist. The cyclist, a 69-year-old woman from Bruges, was riding on the cycle path. A truck turned right to enter a business park. The driver did not notice the woman and hit her. She was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The public prosecutor’s office sent a legal expert to the scene to investigate the exact cause of the accident.
