Madinat Zayed (dpa) – The two German bike sprinters Max Kanter and Pascal Ackermann missed a top place at the start of the UAE tour.
After 184 kilometers, starting and finishing in Madinat Zayed, Kanter finished seventh, Ackermann was tenth. The Belgian Jasper Philipsen won ahead of the Irishman Sam Bennett from the German Bora-hansgrohe team and the Italian Elia Viviani. Ackermann only joined the UAE team for the first World Tour race of the season after Fernando Gaviria tested positive for the corona virus.
