Cycling: Jonas Vingegaard supports top cycling talent

The Belgian Cian Uijtdebroeks is one of the greatest cycling talents in the world. The successful racing team Visma-Lease a Bike was accordingly keen to poach the 21-year-old from bora-Hansgrohe. Now he rides alongside Tour de France champion Jonas Vingegaard, who immediately becomes an important support for the young rider.

In the few weeks since Cian Uijtdebroeks moved to Visma-Lease a Bike, Jonas Vingegaard has become something of a mentor to the youngster. “Vingegaard has taken me under his wing,” the newcomer recently told “Het Laatste Nieuws”: “He gives me tips during the races and feedback afterwards.”

Uijtdebroeks apparently quickly made a big impression on the two-time Tour de France winner: “He sees me as a young guy who can achieve big things in the future.” Both get along “very well,” said the cycling talent.

Cycling: Uijtdebroeks has “very great potential”

Jonas Vingegaard immediately confirmed to “Cyclingnews”: “I think he can win a Grand Tour one day.”

The new addition is scheduled to take part in the first Grand Tour of the year, the Giro d’Italia, and gain valuable experience. He had already achieved an impressive eighth place with bora-Hansgrohe at the Spanish Vuelta last year.

Uijtdebroeks is “still very young”, but has “very great potential”, said the Dane: “He is possibly one of the greatest cycling talents in the sport. It is good that he is in our team and not with the competition. ”

The new addition, with whom Vingegaard is now driving side by side in the classic Tirreno-Adriatico, fits perfectly into the team structure, emphasized the 27-year-old: “He is professional and inquisitive.”

Last season, Visma-Lease a Bike won all three major cycling tours: Roglic won the Giro, Vingegaard won the Tour and the American Sepp Kuss won the Vuelta.
