The victim remained involved in a serious accident in the middle of the second stage, which took place between Langa de Duero and Laguna Negra de Vinuesa, in the province of Soria. According to the Municipality of Burgos, the mortal accident occurred around 12.15 in El Amogable, in the municipality of Navaleno and involved over twenty injured twenty. The deceased young man was transported to the Santa Bárbara hospital in Soria together with two other seriously injured runners, and his death was announced in the hospital.
