After 15 years without a cup final, Werder finally wants to go back to Berlin. The way there leads over East Westphalia: the SVW competes on the Bielefeld Alm.
While third division team Arminia Bielefeld won 3-0 at 1860 Munich at the weekend, Ole Werner’s player in Freiburg “fell apart” – with a 0: 5 we went back to Bremen. Against Bielefeld, Werder’s trainer demands a more confident appearance of his team, and he expects higher resistance to potential setbacks in the game.
“An unpleasant opponent comes up to us,” Werner looks ahead: “It won’t be easy, the previous rounds showed that.” In the first rounds of the trophy, the Arminen prevailed against Hanover, Union Berlin and Freiburg.
Werner wants to do justice to favorites
Bielefeld is not a “classic third division”, which “mainly deals with the physical virtues”, the 36-year-old states. Nevertheless, according to Werner, the Bielefeld does not lack the necessary bite: the East Westphalia are a team that has a high aggressiveness against the ball.
We are the favorite and we want to do justice to this role. On the other hand, we also know that this will not be a sure -fire success. If football was normal and it is always possible to find out who the favorite is, then we would play against Hannover, Freiburg or Union Berlin.

However, Werner sees the fact that the favorite role – but also through the expected heated atmosphere on the Bielefeld Alm – a certain pressure on him and his team is: “If I wanted to play football without pressure, I could go out to the door today and twice Meet the week with friends to play on a meadow. “
Werder’s oversupply in the storm
It was striking in the past few days that Werder’s training sessions took place behind closed doors. It was about training “tactical things”, explains Ole Werner the decision – and tactical things are traditionally made secret and not before the eyes of the upcoming opponents.
Werner, on the other hand, makes no secret of the personnel situation. Apart from the injured captain Marco Friedl, SV Werder can draw on Bielefeld. Especially on the offensive, the coach is spoiled for choice: Marvin Ducksch, André Silva, Marco Grüll, Justin Njinmah, Oliver Burke and Keke Topp are all ready.
It is the case that we have six people available for Nominal two positions. Means: Not all strikers will be in the squad.(Werders Ole Werner about the translation in attack)
Regardless of who will be in the starting eleven, Werner demands that his own “quality to get on the pitch. Individual, but also in the collective as a team.” In the end, the Werder was rarely successful: in the eight competitive games this year there was only one win.
However, Werder’s coach is not yet a thought about internal measures for a possible defeat in Bielefeld and the associated departure. “These are unnested eggs,” says Werner. He wants to go to the semi -finals, the team too. The motto: “Full throttle forward!”
