Mrs. Ogterop in Meppel is coming up with a new show called Ada’s side. It is the third performance of the production house that is part of Schouwburg Ogterop.
Ada is the wife of a man who raped and murdered a girl thirteen years ago. “Because of his act, she is suddenly known as the wife of and that of course has an enormous impact on her life,” says artistic director Lotte Dunselman. “We will show how that feels for her during the performance.”
Dunselman himself plays the role of Ada during the performance. The actress got inspiration for the story from the book You are mine by Peter Middendorp. “A beautiful book to read,” she explains. “The story focuses mainly on the murderer, but Ada really fascinated me.”
“What does it do to you when your husband does something like that, because you are suddenly the wife of a murderer. Did she know what he had done? Did she not know? How does your life continue? How do those around you deal with it?” All questions running around in her head.
