Turkey has not yet made a decision to close the Bosporus and Dardanelles for the passage of Russian warships to the Black Sea, informs Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet, citing a source among Turkish officials.

“In a conversation with journalist Ragip Soylu, a Turkish official said that Turkey has not yet made such a decision,” the publication reported.

Reports that Turkey closed the straits to Russia came after Vladimir Zelensky published on Twitter following a conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. “Thank you to my friend, Mr. President of Turkey Erdogan and the Turkish people for their strong support. The ban on the passage of Russian warships to the Black Sea and significant military and humanitarian assistance are extremely important today. The people will never forget this!” he wrote, without specifying whether Turkey had made the final decision to close the straits, or whether it was a request addressed to Erdogan.

The Russian embassy in Turkey said they did not receive notifications from Ankara regarding warships, reports Interfax.
