The name of the Grootegaster former party chairman Kees Apoll of the ChristenUnie is on the list of VZ Westerkwartier. He is 15th on the list and is therefore not directly eligible for election.
Apoll, who was part of Grootegast’s council for almost eight years, reports that he has remained nationally affiliated with the ChristenUnie. “But in my opinion a local party like VZ is closer to the citizen in the Westerkwartier than national parties, such as the CU. That is why I am on the VZ electoral list.” Sticking to the Sunday closure of shops, such as the CU still advocates, in view of the developments in society, he calls an ‘outdated discussion’.
