Oliver Glasner received reinforcements for his offensive shortly before the end of the transfer window. Crystal Palace has signed Evann Guessand on loan from league rivals Aston Villa until the end of the season. As the club confirmed, the Eagles have secured a purchase option for the 24-year-old winger.
In the summer, Aston Villa paid OGC Nice €30 million for Guessand’s services. The Ivory Coast international fell far short of expectations. He scored two goals in 21 games, both in the Europa League. In the Premier League he was in the starting line-up six times in 13 appearances, but he did not manage to contribute to a goal.
“Evann is an exciting talent who we are confident will thrive on the South London stage. His arrival further strengthens our forward options as we look to progress in the Premier League and Europe in the second half of the season,” said chairman Steve Parish. Guessand added: “I’m really, really excited. I’ve been waiting for this moment for a very long time and I’m looking forward to playing with my new teammates. I think with the quality we have we can achieve something.”
Crystal Palace’s transfer efforts are not over yet, as something is still expected to happen before the transfer deadline on Monday, especially in the center forward position. Top scorer Jean-Philippe Mateta has informed those responsible that he would like to leave the club in the winter. A hot trail leads to AC Milan. In return, Jørgen Strand Larsen will come from Premier League bottom side Wolverhampton Wanderers. According to Fabrizio Romano and “The Athletic”, the total package should be 57.7 million – that would be a club record.
