Crying Bridget Maasland not a hit on Christmas Day: ‘-50 percent’

Bridget Maasland crying in her bikini next to the swimming pool: it does not appeal to the Christmas viewer. Her episode of Isola di Beau attracted little attention yesterday, on Christmas Day.

RTL 4 did not exactly pull out all the stops on Christmas Day. The TV channel filled her evening with a summer episode of Isola di Beau, with guests Bridget Maasland and one artist or another, and a repeat of All You Need Is Love. The result? Very low ratings.

Few viewers

The season finale of Isola Di Beau got stuck at 542 thousand viewers (15 percent market share). With that, Beau van Erven Dorens attracted about 50 percent fewer viewers than he usually does. The All You Need rerun then attracted 384 thousand viewers (12 percent). Those scores are nothing to write home about, of course.

TV connoisseur Tina Nijkamp believes that RTL 4 owes this entirely to itself. “Perhaps it would be a better idea for RTL 4 to broadcast a Christmas program again next year.”

Crying Bridget

In addition to the usual complaining about the media attention to her failed love affair with André Hazes Jr., the Brazes affair, the interview with Bridget also contained an emotional note. At one point it was about her son Mees, with whom she was forced to move after the break with his father.

Bridget had to sell the joint home, but that was difficult. Eventually there was a buyer, but he wanted it as soon as possible. “I said, ‘Honey, when you come back from vacation, mommy will have packed everything and then we’ll move, but I don’t have another house yet, so I don’t know where we’re going to live.’”

And what did Bridget’s son say then? “Then he literally said, five years old, ‘I don’t care at all, as long as we’re together.’ Then you have the sweetest child on earth, don’t you?”, said the presenter, completely in tears.

All of Holland bakes

Christmas Day actually only had one winner on television: Heel Holland Bakt. That program attracted 1.5 million viewers (41 percent), making it by far the most watched TV show of the evening. EO’s Radiant Christmas immediately attracted 633 thousand viewers (18 percent) to NPO 1.

RTL 4 comes in second place with the crying Bridget and SBS 6 got stuck at 414 thousand viewers (12 percent) for the Christmas special of De Alleskunner VIPS.
