As of: February 13, 2024 9:19 p.m

The German cross-country skiers did well at the World Cup in Canmore, Canada. But they had nothing to do with the podium. There was no DSV starter among the men.

The overall World Cup sprint leader Linn Svahn won the sprint in Canmore. The Swede won the final ahead of Kristine Stavaas Skistad from Norway, who won the photo finish against Sweden’s Jonna Sundling (+2.13 seconds). The German cross-country skiers had no chance of making it to the podium.

Carl and Gimmler are in the top ten

Victoria Carl made it to the semi-finals. There she had to clearly admit defeat in fifth place. Her teammate Laura Gimmler fared only slightly better. Fourth place was also not enough for the final. In the final results, this made eighth place for Gimmler and tenth place for Carl.

However, both of them had come further than the other Germans. For Lisa Lohmann, Katharina Hennig and Corletta Rydzek, the quarter-finals were already the end of the line. They finished 20th, 13th and 18th.

Klaebo wins superiorly

No DSV athletes started among the men. The favored Norwegian Johannes Klaebo (3:01.29 minutes) won ahead of the Frenchman Richard Jouve (+0.47 seconds) and his compatriot Erik Valnes (+0.61 seconds). For Klaebo it was the 45th victory in the sprint and the 76th World Cup victory overall. Thanks to his success, he reduced the gap in the Sprint World Cup to Valnes, who is now third, to just one point.
