If you feel like doing something active in the snow this week, you don’t have to go to the Alps. At Country Golf in Ees you can now explore the normally green golf course by cross-country skiing. Because of the winter weather, the cross-country skis have been removed from the basement.

It looks like a postcard of Austria, but without the mountains in the background. Some cross-country skiers take a spin on the snow-covered golf course in Ees. “This is the second time I have done this in the Netherlands,” says Charles van Mourik, as he tries to click his cross-country ski boots onto the skis. “That’s not that easy,” he laughs.

He continues: “It remains to be seen whether I can still do this. I do ski, but that is a different branch of the sport.” There is no snow that often in the Drenthe landscape. The last time so much snow fell in the Netherlands was in February 2021, when a snowstorm covered large parts of the Netherlands with a large layer of snow.
