Cross-country skiing mc: Shorter runs, more prize money

At its fall meeting in Zurich, the international skiing federation Fis was hammered through decisions and changes regarding the upcoming competition season.

The prize pool of the cross-country skiing world cup will increase by ten percent in the coming season. The additional money will be distributed at the end of the season to the top 20 male and female skiers in the final scores as a bonus for other prize money.

More money is also distributed at the Tour de Ski. 326,000 Swiss francs, or about 339,040 euros, will be distributed at the turn of the year ski tour.

The global energy crisis will also be taken into account in cross-country skiing in the coming season. Due to the increased price of electricity, in the coming season, in the coming season, it will be possible to exceptionally compete in intermediate races on runs shorter than five kilometers. This saves competition arenas, for example, in lighting costs.

The cross-country skiing world cup starts in Ruka at the end of November.
