Two Confederates in the top 10

In the sprints, Janik Riebli and Valerio Grond secured a good starting position for the distance race. They finished seventh and eighth, 31 and 36 seconds behind the leading Norwegian. Roman Schaad (23rd/1:02), Cyril Fähndrich (24th/1:02), Roman Furger (31st/1:10), Jason Rüesch (35th/1:10), Erwan Käser (44th/ 1:11), Beda Klee (49th/1:12), Avelino Näpflin (64th/1:15), Cla-Ursin Nufer (68th/1:16), Candide Pralong (69th/1:16) and Jonas Baumann (71st/1:16) complete the Swiss squad.

Two ÖSV athletes there

Two men’s athletes will represent Austria. Benjamin Moser finished 30th in the sprint and is 1:05 behind Klæbo today. Just nine seconds later, the second Austrian, Philipp Leodolter, is also chasing and will probably complete the race in a large group.

Nine DSV runners at the start

Nine of the 99 starters are from Germany. After Friedrich Moch in 17th, Anian Sossau is the second best German of yesterday in 43rd. He starts the race 1:11 behind Klæbo. Janosch Brugger left the track in 53rd place, just two seconds later than Sossau. The other Germans Jan Stölben (66th / 1:15), Thomas Bing (78th / 1:19), Lucas Bögl (79th / 1:19), Jonas Dobler (82nd / 1:20), Albert Kuchler ( 90th/1:24) and Florian Notz (95th/1:25).

Day two at the Tour de Ski

In the Munster Valley, Switzerland, everything is set for the men’s pursuit on day two of this year’s Tour de Ski. After yesterday’s sprints, today is the first distance race. Norway’s Johannes Høsflot Klæbo won yesterday’s sprint ahead of Italy’s Federico Pellegrino and Czech Michal Novák. Best German was Friedrich Moch. He finished 17th yesterday, 59 seconds back going into the 10K.
