Fink gets out

We have just received information that Pia Fink is also canceling her sails. The 30-year-old came through in 23rd place in the qualification. However, the best German in the overall ranking “doesn’t feel completely fit”. And in the Olympic year, like so many others, she doesn’t want to take any risks and is leaving with immediate effect.

Only Stadlober

The only remaining Austrian is Teresa Stadlober. The Styrian is definitely not considered a sprinter, but she made it to the quarterfinals in 29th place (Heat 4). This means that the current third overall can continue to work on the tour podium.

German duo

Of the 90 athletes from 20 nations there are now 55 remaining who took part in the qualification today – four of them in the colors of the German Ski Association. However, Coletta Rydzek is no longer there. The 28-year-old would have had the best prospects of another excellent result today, but she pulled the ripcord due to poor health. Helen Hoffmann and Katherine Sauerbrey are still in the competition, but failed to qualify in 36th and 53rd place this afternoon. That leaves us with Pia Fink (Heat 1) and Sofie Krehl (5). The former is the best-placed German in the overall ranking, in twelfth place.

Fiemme Valley

After the four stages in Toblach, the entourage moved on to Trentino. This is where the Val di Fiemme, or Fiemme Valley in German, is located. Before the final climb to Alpe Cermis is on the agenda tomorrow in Cavalese, there is still something for the sprinters today. A 1,547 meter long lap was prepared and groomed in the cross-country skiing center at Lago di Tesero. In order to ultimately emerge as a winner from the competition, this distance, including the prologue, must be completed at least four times.
