In six years, European campsites have become almost a quarter more expensive. Just like last year, Croatia is the most expensive camping country in Europe, and in Slovakia campers spend much more money than last year. Prices fell in only one country.

This year, a family with two children and a caravan at an average Croatian campsite will pay 78.28 euros per night. This makes Croatia the most expensive camping country in Europe again this year, according to the latest figures from camping specialist Acsi.

Switzerland (61.33 euros) and Slovenia (60.14 euros) are in second and third place. Italy and Denmark are the bottom of the top five most expensive European camping countries.

Price increase of 94 percent

In recent years, camping in Europe has become a lot more expensive. Acsi speaks of a price increase of 24.7 percent compared to 2020. Only campsites in Turkey have become cheaper by 4.5 percent in recent years to an average price of 13.57 euros per night. Turkey is therefore the cheapest European camping country.

Norway takes the absolute cake in terms of price increases: this year a family will pay 53.82 euros for a camping overnight stay, compared to 27.74 euros in 2020. That is a price increase of 94 percent.

Camping in Croatia has become almost 70 percent more expensive in six years. Slovenia is also among the biggest risers in recent years. In six years, camping there has become 34.1 percent more expensive. This year, a family pays an average of 60.14 euros for a night at the campsite for four people.

“Eastern Europe has been emerging as a holiday destination for years,” says Ramon van Reine, CEO of Acsi. “The campsites there have been modernizing enormously due to the increased demand. In Croatia, for example, many investors are active who provide the campsites with facilities, such as various restaurants and water parks.”

As a result, prices are rising sharply. “There are now campsites along the coast with a private swimming pool on a camping site and you pay around 400 euros per night for that.”

Only Poland cheaper

Compared to the prices of 2025, the prices for camping in Slovakia are very striking: a family there will pay an average of 31.61 euros per night at the campsite this year. Last year that was still 26.64 euros.

Fortunately, there is good news for people going to Poland this year: prices there have fallen by 1.9 percent to an average of 24.19 euros per night. This year, a family will pay an average of 39.15 euros for a night at a Dutch campsite, less than one and a half euros more than last year.

Although prices rose almost everywhere, Van Reine remains positive. “Of course there are very expensive campsites in Europe, with all the trimmings, but you can also still go with your caravan or camper to cheaper places where you pay a few tens of euros per night.”
