The Seville derby between Betis and FC was supposed to take place tonight. But the game was stopped after a goal. The reason: A player was thrown at with an iron bar.

In the Seville derby in the Spanish Copa del Rey cup competition, the sporty side receded into the background shortly before half-time.

In the 39th minute Nabil Fekir from Betis Sevilla scored to equalize 1-1. But instead of being happy, a supporter in the stands caused an unbelievable scene.

The Betis Sevilla block fan threw a pole onto the pitch. It hit FC player Joan Jordan in the head and the Spaniard went straight to the ground. The player must then be carried off the pitch. The game was then suspended and eventually abandoned.

How the spectator got the pole into the stadium is still unclear. The police are now investigating the launcher.
