In the Sunday second division, the match between Sporting Martinus and RODA ’23 is the match of the year. “Many boys went to school together, so the game is very much alive here in Amstelveen,” says Sporting Martinus coach Tom Verhoek.
RODA ’23 coach Bnar Toofeek also notices that the competition really lives in the region. “On King’s Day everyone came to me and asked about the derby,” said Toofeek.
“I’m a little nervous,” he continues. The competition at RODA ’23 ended a few months ago in the spectacle stand. Both teams are now fighting for the championship in the Sunday second division B.
From joy to sadness
NH Sport was present at this derby and witnessed a crazy match up close. The camera was also welcome in the dressing room of RODA ’23 during the match. Everything passes: battle, goals, an unjust penalty and eventually a winner.
