The gas leak was created in the crawl space of a home and could not be closed by the fire brigade, so that the space is now full of gas. “And you don’t just open a door there,” explains a spokesperson for network manager Liander.
Gas pipeline broken
As a precaution, the fire brigade has evacuated fourteen adjacent houses. A team of Liander technicians is present to close the leak. It is not yet clear how long that will take.
According to the spokesperson for network manager Liander, the cause of the Lek is still unclear. “A gas pipeline has been broken in the crawl space,” said the Liander spokesperson. “For example, it may have happened during a renovation, but we still have to investigate that.”
