The Crans-Montana tragedy, which occurred on New Year’s Eve in a club in the famous Swiss resort, also affects the world of sport. The news comes directly from Metz, via a post on social media, and concerns a player from the second team, Tahirys Dos Santos. The defender born in 2006 was in the club celebrating with his friends when he was involved in the explosion which caused him serious burns. Dozens of people lost their lives in the tragedy. At least 100 injured.

Medical conditions are still being updated. The club’s statement reads this: Dos Santos is “severely burned and has been transferred by helicopter to Germany where he is currently undergoing treatment. The club wishes to provide all its support to his family.” The footballer “was transferred to Mercy hospital, near his home”, where he is currently hospitalized.

The player’s agent Christophe Hutteau intervened to reassure, at least partially: “The positive thing is that, contrary to what the doctors had imagined, he was not put on a ventilator, so he has recovered sufficient lung capacity to not have to undergo intensive care. It is too early to make a diagnosis. Given that he has been transferred to a burns unit, I will let you imagine the physical conditions he is in.”
