Grab your lantern (or make one) and warm up your voice. Because on Tuesday, November 11, parents and children celebrate St. Martin’s Day in the Village. And everyone is welcome!

For the third time in a row, the Nicolaaskerk, Oude Kerk, Paulusschool and local residents are organizing a lantern parade. While singing, you walk in groups past the houses and the children receive something tasty from the residents and shopkeepers.

The parade

The festivities start at 5 p.m. in the Nicolaas Church at Dorpsstraat 24. There you will meet the ‘real’ Saint Martin who tells the story of the merciful Martin of Tours in a visual way. You also practice well-known songs together. Consider: Saint Martin, Saint Martin, the cows have tails!

Around 5:30 PM the lanterns will be lit and the parade will begin in and around Dorpsstraat. Is there a light and an autumn picture with lanterns hanging on a front door? Then you can ring the bell, sing for the resident and grab something tasty. The route ends at the Oude Kerk with a cup of hot chocolate.

Food bank

Do you feel a Good Samaritan emerging within you? Then bring something for the Food Bank on Tuesday, November 11. All types of non-perishable food are welcome and you can place them in the baskets in the hall of the Nicholas Church.
