On the Wet Stage at Wacken Open Air 2025, the darkness rules. With the tribute band Ozzyfied, fans of the late Prince of Darkness can once again indulge in memories and rock to hits such as “Paranoid”, “Mr. Crowley” and “Crazy Train”.
Ozzyfied when Wacken: “Everybody Scream for Ozzy”
Ozzyfied has successfully come from the Bergisches Land and tours since 2018 as a cover band through the country. Singer Henning Wanner embodies the aura of the Prince of Darkness with astonishing intensity and a lot of similarity.
“I wish he was here today, but looks at from above,” he calls to the audience, which, despite the pouring rain, has made a pilgrimage to the stage.
And it is worth it: Ozzyfied succeeds not only playing a well-curated best-of, but also to bring the charisma and the theatrical of the original on stage-even if a small biting insert with rubber bat is rather Klamaukig. For a good hour, it feels a little as if the truthful ozzy appear again while wacking and going through his career.
Grief in Birmingham
While you are celebrating on the festival site, a funeral train for Ozzy Osbourne took place in Birmingham. His coffin was driven through the streets of his hometown before the funeral society left for the funeral.
The procession passed significant stations of his life. It went from his childhood district of Aston to the Black Sabbath Bridge, the symbolic heart of his musical homeland.
Thousands of fans lined the streets, lay down flowers and shouted “Ozzy! Ozzy!”. Sharon Osbourne personally put flowers down on the memorial bench and pointed into the crowd with a Peace sign. She wore a long chain of Ozzy’s wedding ring and was supported by her children Jack and Kelly.
The funeral procession was accompanied by the local wind ensemble Bostin ‘Brass, which preliminary caught during the funeral procession and played “Iron Man” and “Crazy Train”. Probably in the spirit of Ozzy, who, according to the family, had a celebration and no long faces (“A Celebration, Not A Mope Festival”).
