The court-ordered receivership of the company Valentino Bags Lab SrL, which belongs to the Valentino fashion house, has been terminated prematurely.

According to a report by the Reuters news agency, the measure was imposed in May last year because the company, which produces Valentino accessories, was allegedly working with Chinese-run subcontractors who had exploitative working conditions. At that time, a one-year compulsory administration was ordered. This has now been lifted early.

Valentino welcomed the decision. Throughout the entire process, the company cooperated fully with the court-appointed administrator and “actively contributed to a constructive dialogue that accelerated and strengthened the improvement process that had already been initiated in previous years,” the fashion house said in a statement. This collaboration is “part of Valentino’s comprehensive commitment to transparency, supply chain integrity and respect for workers and customers.”

The company says it has tightened its governance criteria and introduced more selective processes in selecting suppliers to ensure better monitoring and control of the supply chain.

Italian courts targeted a number of fashion companies last year in an attempt to stop illegal labor practices among subcontractors.
