Councilor Alex Wekema is leaving the municipality of Noordenveld and politics. As of January 1, he will start working as finance & control manager at housing association Lefier in Groningen.
Wekema was in Noordenveld politics for twenty years; first eight years as a councilor and then twelve years as an alderman. In recent years, as an alderman, he was responsible for the portfolios of finance, work and income, youth, art and culture and sport.
The municipal elections will take place on Wednesday, March 18. Wekema had previously indicated that he did not want to continue for a fourth term.
