Collective cleaning in paper processing brings 5.5% more wages

Dow Jones–in tariff conflict in paper processing, the Verdi union and the main association of paper and plastic processing (HPV) achieved a result on Thursday in the third round of negotiations. The wages, salaries and training allowances of the approximately 100,000 employees in paper, cardboard and plastics processing industry (PPKV) are intended to increase by 5.5 percent, as the union announced.

In the first step, an increase of 2.0 percent took place on July 1. As of May 1, 2026, a further increase of 2.4 percent and January 1, 2027 was planned by 1.1 percent. The collective agreement has a term of 27 months – until April 30, 2027.

Complicated negotiations and an “intensive struggle” were preceded by the agreement until late into the night, says Verdi. Employers recently offered 4.1 percent more wages and salary in several zero months before the first increase. The union had been on strike more than 40 PPKV companies nationwide since mid -February.

The Verdi tariff commission must still agree to the negotiation result.
