Corona cases in Melsungen: HBL game in Erlangen postponed

Melsungen (dpa) – The Bundesliga game of the handball players of MT Melsungen at HC Erlangen scheduled for Wednesday has to be postponed due to the corona.

The HBL agreed to a request from the guests, the two clubs said. A catch-up date will be announced in the coming days. The game TSV Hannover-Burgdorf against HSV Hamburg, which was scheduled for Thursday, had previously been postponed due to several corona cases in Lower Saxony.

Because several players in Melsungen do not have medical clearance to take part in the game due to a corona infection, the cup game of North Hesse at TBV Lemgo Lippe planned for last Sunday had to be postponed.

A special regulation of the HBL provides that games scheduled up to and including February 10th can be postponed if at least six players or two goalkeepers in a team are unable to play due to corona. After that, the previous 50 percent rule applies.
