Berlin (dpa) – Sports show presenter Michael Antwerpes has tested positive for the corona virus and can therefore not fly to Beijing for the Winter Olympics.
This was announced by the television station ARD. Antwerpes was scheduled to be the main moderator at a joint external position of ARD and ZDF in the International Broadcast Center (IBC) in the mountains. According to the announcement, Markus Othmer is now stepping in for him.
After Claus Lufen, Hajo Seppelt and Lea Wagner, Antwerpes is the fourth member of the ARD team to be affected by Corona. Doping expert Seppelt has recovered from his infection. Nevertheless, the investigative journalist will initially work from the NBC of ARD and ZDF in Mainz from the upcoming opening weekend and take care of sports-political topics and backgrounds.
The 27-year-old TV journalist Wagner tested positive for the corona virus before she left for China. ARD reporter Lufen also tested positive when he arrived in the Chinese capital last Friday. The ARD announced that he was currently in the quarantine hotel.
