“A few positive cases have come to light within the selection in recent days. It has therefore been decided to abandon the practice match in Germany and to continue preparations for the restart of the competition in our own country,” said PEC.
The club from Zwolle will resume the competition on Friday 14 January with a home game against Willem II. PEC only has 6 points after eighteen matches.
PSV
PSV had to cancel the training camp in Spain at the last minute on Tuesday. The selection of the leader of the Eredivisie would fly to Marbella on Tuesday morning, but due to a number of corona infections, trainer Roger Schmidt and his players remained in Eindhoven.
According to PSV, “part of the selection” tested positive for the corona virus on Monday. Schmidt will now prepare his team for the second part of the season at De Herdgang’s own training complex. PSV would play a practice match in Spain. Feyenoord also had to cancel the planned training camp in Spain last weekend due to a corona wave within the selection.
Cody Gakpo, Phillipp Mwene and their PSV teammates will remain in Eindhoven.

Schmidt’s team will resume the Eredivisie on Sunday 16 January with an away game against FC Groningen. A week later Ajax comes to Eindhoven. After eighteen rounds, PSV has one point more than the national champion.
Ajax, Vitesse, NEC and AZ did go abroad for a training camp. Ajax and Vitesse stay in Portugal, NEC and AZ in Spain. The other clubs in the Eredivisie decided to stay in their own country this winter, partly because of the corona vicissitudes.
The PSV women’s team will fly to Spain on Tuesday. The Eindhoven football players are going to prepare in Malaga for the resumption of the season.
SC Heerenveen
There is also no winter training camp for SC Heerenveen. The current number ten in the Eredivisie is therefore not going to Apeldoorn.
“Due to several positive corona tests, the club has decided to stay in Heerenveen. The players who have been diagnosed with the corona virus are now in isolation. The rest of the selection will train at Sportpark Skoatterwald in the coming days,” the Frisians said on their website.
