Similar thefts have occurred more often in other police zones and just across the French border. The copper is estimated to yield around 100 euros per cable, but for the operators the costs rise to at least ten times that. Due to the theft, users will not be able to use the fast charging stations at the Rijselsepoort shopping center in Ypres for the time being.
