NZA New Zealand Auckland (NZA) is making great progress on the German market. With the opening of several new business in 2025, including a flagship store in Westfield Hamburg, the brand continues its growth strategy. The step to Germany is no coincidence, explains NZA New Zealand Auckland in an interview with Fashionunited. The label has been focusing on international growth for some time and has created a solid basis for expansion to the DACH region, which includes Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Promising market with growth potential

Germany is a strategic choice for NZA New Zealand Auckland. The brand has always had the ambition to expand beyond the Netherlands and Belgium and to concentrate on international markets. With the geographical proximity and the strong economy, Germany offers a promising market with growth potential. Showrooms in Hamburg and Düsseldorf already serve as a solid basis, whereby the latter serves as a strategic location near the Netherlands in order to be able to operate the German market in a controlled manner.

The expansion takes place gradually and carefully. After the opening of shops on the luxurious North Sea island of Sylt, in the seaside resorts Timmendorfer Strand and Zingst, the brand now focuses on further retail growth with its own shops in Westfield Hamburg overseas quarters and in the Mega shopping center Westfield Centro Oberhausen. The Brand Store in Oberhausen was opened at the end of February 2025, the Brand Store in Hamburg follows on April 8th. The locations were carefully selected due to their premium positioning and high visitors: internal frequency. The Westfield Centro Oberhausen attracts around 17 million visitors annually: inside, which gives the brand an enormous visibility.

Approach and strategy: Retail and Wholesale hand in hand

Part of this expansion is to build a solid base in Germany with a team that knows the market very well. NZA New Zealand Auckland has therefore appointed a country manager and built up a shopping organization in order to be able to respond directly to the needs of the German market. The German consumer attaches great importance to stability and reliability. This is reflected in strong support for trade and a clear positioning in the market. The growth in the retail area is not only achieved through the opening of your own Company Brand Stores, franchising is also an important pillar of the entire growth strategy. In Germany, the conversations with potential franchisees are well advanced, the first contracts have already been signed, and at the end of April a franchise fire store in Heringsdorf on the northeast German coast will open.

NZA positions itself as a premium, but affordable. The strength of the brand is in the price-performance ratio: high-quality charisma and quality, but without the high prices of the top brands. This makes the label attractive for consumers: inside who are looking for a strong brand experience and at the same time value affordability. NZA is thus strategically positioned in the premium segment of retail. In addition, e-commerce plays an important role in growth.

Many German consumers: Inside, their first purchases in the Netherlands make and repeat them online, which indicates that the demand for NZA in Germany is significant and supports further growth.

What does NZA do for German consumers: attractive inside?

The German market has a lot of potential, but also challenges. The trade structure is more conservative than in the Netherlands, and German retailers: inside attach great importance to long -term relationships. In order to gain the trust of the market, NZA invests in strong brand presentations and shopping organizations. Platforms such as fashion cloud for the Benelux countries and hachmeister + partners for Germany are used to collect data and optimize collections, recognize trends faster and more effectively and to better support retailers in the sales process.

Germany is only part of NZA’s international growth strategy. In addition to the development in the roof region, including logical consequences in Austria and Switzerland, the brand also gives a foothold in Spain and Scandinavia where the NZA aesthetics fits the local market. The expansion is always controlled without losing sight of the home base in the Netherlands and Belgium. The opening of a fire store in the tourist ornamental ciercente is planned for mid -May this year.

After the opening of the shops in Hamburg and Oberhausen, NZA New Zealand Auckland will have 50 brand stores. With this milestone and a clear growth vision, the brand continues to build on a future in which retail and wholesale strengthen each other. The focus is on healthy, sustainable growth and strong brand positioning in every market in which NZA is active.
