According to the plans of the municipality, it was not yet the turn of the Ieperstraat. “That was not planned,” says public works ships Rik Gevaert. “Our services spent a lot of time in adapted circulation plans. On Monday it suddenly turned out that the contractor had broken open the street, so we had to adjust everything again. That caused major traffic problems in Staden.”
The unexpected works have also interrupted part of the detour. “You can’t endlessly reduce people,” says Gevaert. “We have adjusted the situation as well as possible.”
