Contract until 2026: Deschamps remains France coach

Didier Deschamps remains coach of the French national football team. Almost three weeks after losing the World Cup final in Doha against Argentina on penalties, the coach himself announced this at the general assembly of the national association in Paris.

His expiring contract was extended until the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. “I thank the President for his continued trust and support. It is a great pleasure to be able to continue my work”said Deschamps, whose announcement was met with a standing ovation from the federation’s delegates.

Great success for France under Deschamps

The “Team Tricolore” has enjoyed great success under Deschamps since 2012. The team became world champions in 2018, reached the final of the 2016 home European Championship and won the Nations League in 2021. The 54-year-old’s team is currently third in the FIFA world rankings.

Who wasn’t missing everything: world footballer Benzema, superstar Pogba, plus chief clearer Kanté. Coach Didier Deschamps simply reshuffled and did everything right: France’s renewed final appearance is his masterpiece.

Before joining the French FA, the former national team captain and 1998 world champion worked as a coach for AS Monaco, Juventus Turin and Olympique Marseille.
