Contract decision from the NBA! – Breaking NBA news

The NBA and NBPA (Players Syndicate) were allegedly discussing loosening contract extension limits.

Shams Charania of The Athletic said that as part of the ongoing CBA (collective bargaining) discussions, the NBA and NBPA may loosen existing limits on contract extensions.

According to the current CBA, teams and players can only increase a player’s salary by 120 percent in the first new year of overtime unless the player qualifies as a designated player/rookie or is well below the league’s average salary.

While the parties are reportedly discussing potentially shifting this to 140-150 percent, it is thought that this could open the door to players who have signed contracts that eventually become sub-market deals, to get enough raises to commit to a deal before becoming a free agent.

OG Anunoby, Domantas Sabonis and Lauri Markkanen are said to be three players that could be affected by a rule change in this area.
