Constitutional Court upholds law protecting owners with damage from drought

Under the impetus of Vooruit politician Melissa Depraetere, a law had already been passed that compensates owners of houses with drought damage.

But major insurers did not agree to this. They argued that the cracks were not definitely caused by drought. The Constitutional Court has now ruled in favor of homeowners. Both people who have already suffered damage and future cases. Houses built on clay soil are particularly susceptible to damage from drought.
