Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak said, “Good luck. We believe that this team will do good things in America, hopefully. They will get out of the group and do good things in the later stages. We are proud of our children. The children of this nation, our children… They have achieved a great success. May this be good for our nation.”
The National Football Team won the right to participate in the World Cup after 24 years by defeating Kosovo 1-0 away in the 2026 FIFA World Cup European Qualification Play-Off Final. After the match, Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak made special statements to Demirören News Agency (DHA). Osman Aşkın Bak thanked those who contributed and stated that they were proud. Minister Bak said, “We congratulate our athletes. They made our nation very proud. It was a difficult match, but they did smart things tactically. There was a very enthusiastic Kosovo. The weather conditions were cold and rainy. They continued the process they did in the group by fighting well and smartly. They brought this joy to our nation. We have created a good generation. The contributions and sacrifices of the children are very proud. Our esteemed president also follows the matches closely. Our entire nation was happy. We, as a nation, are very interested in such things. duyuyoruz. Milli takımımızın da Amerika’da olması bizler için gurur verici. Emeği geçenlere teşekkür ediyoruz. Başta teknik heyete, teknik direktör Montella’ya, federasyon başkanına ve yönetimine, emeği geçen tüm sporculara teşekkür ediyoruz. Referring to the importance of participating in the World Cup after 24 years, Osman Aşkın Bak continued his words as follows:
“It is a national cause and desire for the team to go to the World Cup. These young people have achieved it. Therefore, they deserved it. It is also very important for us that our nation is happy. It is important for them to be united. These kinds of things unite us and make us happy. These are very important. That is why we will not forget this evening in Kosovo. Participating in the World Cup after 24 years is very valuable for us. In our other branches, we played the final in Europe in basketball. They also played window matches to go to the World Cup. Women The Volleyball Team made the finals last year. Therefore, as a result of the facilities built in Turkish sports, good things have started to happen. Our club teams will be better. We wholeheartedly believe in this. We thank everyone who contributed. Everything is for our nation.

Stating that they believe that the National Football Team will do well in the World Cup, Minister Bak said, “Single matches are always difficult. Point matches are also important and tactical. But they succeeded. Our children are very strong, they have high football intelligence, they play well in their clubs, they are successful and they play in the big clubs of Europe. I believe that it will be a showcase for them. They will come to much better places. They will represent our nation well. We were proud of them tonight.
