“The judicial investigation is in its final phase. There is currently no further information that malicious intent is involved,” said Bruno Coppin, press magistrate of the Limburg public prosecutor’s office, Tuesday afternoon.

Confusing communication

Flemish minister Hilde Crevits, in addition to the previously reported incidents with suspicious deaths and murder attempts in residential care centers in Oostrozebeke and Hasselt reported another possible case where someone from a residential care center would have died as a result of insulin. That turned out to be a rest home in Halen, of which the investigation has been completed.

The file is currently with the public prosecutor on which a final decision has yet to be made.

The Limburg public prosecutor also referred to a criminal investigation in connection with a fall of a resident in another rest home. “For every unusual death, we investigate the possible cause. That is why an investigation has been opened and is still ongoing,” said press magistrate Coppin. Nor would there be any malicious intent in this case.
