After a few weeks of rumours, Felix Nmecha’s transfer from Wolfsburg to Borussia Dortmund is becoming more and more likely. There are two new developments around the midfielder, who is considered Bellingham’s successor and controversial in BVB fan circles.
In the search for a successor to Jude Bellingham, who recently joined Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund found what they were looking for at VfL Wolfsburg, according to consistent media reports in recent days: Felix Nmecha should make the shooting star’s departure forget. So far, the midfielder has also been traded at Newcastle United and Manchester United, but the Premier League clubs can probably make up a transfer.
Because as the club-affiliated “Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung” and the “Aller Zeitung” report, Nmecha, who was already leaning towards BVB, has now made his firm commitment to the black and yellow. That means: Nothing stands in the way of a change from the player side. According to the newspapers, the 22-year-old, whose contract with the Wolves runs until 2025, can now officially negotiate details such as term, salary and more with the BVB bosses.
What is still missing is the agreement between VfL and Borussia. A fee in the range of 15 to 20 million euros was recently in the room. However, the negotiations between those responsible for the club shouldn’t last too long, because, as the “Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung” and “Aller Zeitung” also report, BVB has already set a deadline internally by which Nmecha should be a Dortmund player.
Accordingly, July 5 is the deadline. Because on this date, BVB starts preparing for the upcoming season – and Nmecha should already be involved in black and yellow colors. However, it is quite possible that the Nmecha deal will be finalized beforehand, because in the best case, Edson Álvarez (Ajax Amsterdam) should be another transfer before the start of training.
After a few friendlies in Germany, BVB will fly to the USA at the end of July to prepare for the upcoming Bundesliga season.
