Conference League semi-finals: 5-goal spectacle between Feyenoord & OM – Rome draw away

Conference League Semifinals

Coach José Mourinho’s AS Roma have created a good chance of reaching the final in the Conference League. The sixth-placed team in Serie A drew 1-1 (0-1) at Leicester City in the semi-final first leg on Thursday evening. Lorenzo Pellegrini (15th minute) put the Romans ahead against the “Foxes” before Gianluca Mancini (67th) scored an own goal to draw.

Feyenoord Rotterdam celebrated a home win in the second semi-final. The third in the Eredivisie defeated Olympique Marseille 3-2 (2-2) in their own stadium. Cyriel Dessers (18’/46′) with a brace that broke the ten goal mark in the Conference League and Luis Sinisterra (20′) scored the goals for the hosts. Bamba Dieng (28′) and Gerson (40′) scored for OM.

“Was it a magical evening? You could say that. That’s even an understatement,” said Dessers, on loan from KRC Genk (quoted via “VI“). “It’s only now that I’m noticing that we’ve won, that I’m also the top scorer, that’s what’s on top of that. It was a very beautiful evening. We were confident that could happen, but of course we’re only halfway there.” Both semi-final second legs will take place next Thursday. The winners will play for the title on May 25 in Tirana, Albania.
